Measuring activity density without rewarding noise

Record volume can describe available context, but a larger number is not necessarily a better learning signal.

Choose a meaningful unit

Count deduplicated human activity per active employee-month or per eligible workflow. Report email, chat, files and tickets separately. Explain how active employees and partial months are defined.

Remove predictable distortions

Automated alerts, copied threads, bots and shared accounts can inflate activity. Export failures and retention gaps can depress it. Document exclusions and report distributions so a few unusually busy accounts do not dominate the story.

Connect volume to usefulness

Inspect whether the activity explains decisions and outcomes. A small set of coherent expert examples may be more appropriate for a task than a large stream of repetitive messages. Density helps characterize a dataset; it does not establish commercial value or performance.
